What will schools look like in 20 years? What facilities will the District need to serve the students of the future?
The David Douglas School District seeks community members to serve on a long-range facility planning committee. This committee will develop an Educational Facility Master Plan to guide District building decisions for the next 20 years or more.
Construction of a $7 million Early Learning Wing and Neighborhood Center at Earl Boyles Elementary School is officially underway.
Dozens of supporters of the project joined the school’s students at a groundbreaking ceremony Dec. 5. This celebration kicked off the building phase of our early learning project that began more than three years ago with a vision for ending the achievement gap that so often harms our underserved children.
Fir Ridge will be hosting their annual Family Fun Festival on Thursday December 12th. This event is open to the community 3-7:30pm. Come join the festivities. Food, crafts and prizes. Childcare provided.
3-5:30 - Music, art and open gym

At 10 a.m. on Dec. 5th, the David Douglas School District will break ground on a $7 million project to build an early learning wing and neighborhood hub at Earl Boyles Elementary School.
This bold project aims to be a state model for incorporating free preschool for all children into an elementary school, as well as make that school a neighborhood hub helping to bring economic and family stability to the community. The Neighborhood Hub will provide adult services and classes, along with childcare, transforming Earl Boyles into a true birth to adult service center.

With winter weather comes uncertainty about school closures, delays and snow bus routes. Here is some clarification regarding David Douglas' inclement weather procedures:
In the event that weather causes a complete school closure or a 2-hour delay, our SchoolMessenger system will be contacting homes within minutes of that decision. In addition, information will also be provided to the media and posted prominently on our website by 6 am.
